COMPARISON OF KITS

In today's market the buyer wants to buy the best, easiest to use, most cost-effective product. This is true of buyers of in-home ovulation predictor kits as well as any other product. The current best-selling kit is Clearplan Easy ovulation predictor kit. It is easy to use with only one step to perform and gives test results in 5 minutes which, according to the company, are 98% accurate. The makers of the test kit joined Serono Laboratories to provide an educational program on infertility problems and treatments. The program will be available to consumers and pharmacists free of charge.

Another kit that is currently available is the First Response ovulation predictor kit. It involves several steps but it also gives accurate results within 5 to 6 minutes.

Another test is the OvuQUICK Self-Test. There are a lot of bottles to manipulate and some exact timings to do, but it should still give fairly accurate results in about 5 minutes or so. It includes a carrying case and is specially marketed for women with menstrual cycles which vary in length by 4 days or more. It includes enough materials for 9 tests which can be used the next month if the patient does not use all of the tests the first month.

Doctors and pharmacists recommend using the basal body thermometer for at least 2 months prior to using one of the ovulation prediction kits. This is so that the patient has an idea how long her menstrual cycle is and will aid her in buying the ovulation prediction kit which will be best for her.
