Home testing for cholesterol is a relatively new aspect of health care. Since this area has not been around very long, there are not many products to choose from. The kits that are discussed in this review are probably the most utilized.
Although both kits test for cholesterol, they perform their function in different ways. The CholesTrac® kit manufactured by AccuTech, LLC gives a cholesterol result almost immediately, whereas the BioSafe kit (not currently on the market) must be sent to the manufacturer.
These kits also differ in their physical appearance. The CholesTrac® kit is a plastic device that gives an indicator to determine the cholesterol level. However, the BioSafe kit is simply a piece of paper that a blood sample is placed on to be read by the manufacturer.
